Agreement

These Terms govern your use of hensteadcoops.com and any purchase made through it. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

The site is operated by Henstead Homestead Co., located in Loves Park, Illinois. "We," "us," and "our" refer to Henstead Homestead Co.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to order from us.

Products and descriptions

We work to describe our coops accurately, including dimensions, materials, and capacity. Dimensions are approximate and may vary slightly due to the nature of solid timber.

Product photos are representative. Wood grain, colour, and finish vary naturally between units, and screen colour reproduction varies by device.

Measure your space before ordering. Full dimensions are listed on every product page. Coops that don't fit are not a defect and are subject to the standard return policy, including return shipping and restocking fee.

Hen capacity figures are general guidance based on typical breeds and normal conditions. Appropriate stocking density depends on breed, climate, and how much time your birds spend outside the coop.

Local rules are your responsibility

Many municipalities regulate backyard chickens and outbuildings — permits, size and height limits, setback requirements from property lines, and limits on how many birds you may keep. HOAs often add their own rules.

Confirming that a coop is permitted at your address is your responsibility. The Big Barn Coop in particular, at roughly 9'5" × 7'1" × 5'11", may qualify as a structure requiring a permit in some jurisdictions. We cannot advise on local requirements and are not liable for coops that turn out to be non-compliant.

Pricing and payment

All prices are in US dollars. We may change prices at any time; the price shown at checkout applies to your order.

Where a compare-at price is shown, it reflects our previous regular selling price for that item.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order, including for suspected fraud, pricing or listing errors, or orders that appear to be for resale. If we cancel a paid order, you'll receive a full refund.

Payment is processed securely by Shopify. We don't store your card details.

Orders and stock

Placing an order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we dispatch. Availability is not guaranteed until dispatch; if an item becomes unavailable we'll notify you and refund in full.

Shipping, returns, warranty

Assembly and safety

Coops ship flat-packed and require assembly. Assembly is your responsibility. Follow the included guide, use appropriate tools, and take normal safety precautions. We're not liable for injury or damage arising from assembly, installation, siting, or use of the coop.

No coop is fully predator-proof. Our coops are built with galvanized welded mesh and locking latches to substantially reduce risk, but no enclosure eliminates it. Predator behaviour, local wildlife, siting, and how consistently you secure latches all matter. We are not liable for loss of animals.

Reviews and customer content

Reviews on our site are from real, verified customers who purchased from us and gave permission for their words and photos to be published. We do not write, buy, or incentivize reviews.

If you send us a review or photo, you grant us permission to use it on our site and marketing materials. You can withdraw that permission at any time by emailing us.

Intellectual property

All content on this site — text, photos, logos, and design — is the property of Henstead Homestead Co. or used with permission, and may not be reproduced without written consent.

Acceptable use

Don't use this site unlawfully, attempt to gain unauthorized access, interfere with its operation, scrape it systematically, or use it to transmit malicious code.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of this site or any product purchased through it will not exceed the amount you paid for that product.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of animals, loss of eggs or income, property damage, or costs of installation or removal.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Winnebago County, Illinois.

Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. The version in effect when you place your order governs that order. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
