About The Ranch Coop
Six feet tall. You walk in standing up.
Every other coop asks you to bend, kneel, or reach. The Ranch does not. A full-height door on the end wall lets you step inside upright with a feed bucket in one hand, which changes what daily chores feel like more than any feature on a spec sheet.
Inside there is 53.9 square feet of floor, a four-bay nesting shelf running nearly four feet along the wall, and a ramp up to the roost. Three doors total: the walk-in, a wide cleaning door, and a small feeding door so you can top up food without opening the main entrance and letting anyone out.
The other thing that makes this coop different is the cover. A removable waterproof shell drops over the frame for winter, turning an open-air run into a sheltered one, then comes off in spring for full ventilation. Ground anchors hold the whole structure down through wind.

Weatherproof roof
Rain and snowmelt run off instead of pooling and soaking through into the hen house.
Solid fir, stained and sealed
Real timber. No particle board, nothing that swells apart after one wet spring. Re-coat every year or two and it keeps going.
Reinforced frame
Steel-backed corners and bracing keep the structure square under snow load and wind instead of racking out of shape.
Ventilation that works
Airflow up high without a draft at roost level. Hens handle cold far better than damp, and this is the part most coops get wrong.
The Ranch has one more trick: a removable waterproof cover drops over the whole frame for winter and comes back off in spring. Sheltered when it needs to be, wide open when it does not.

What we will not claim: no coop is predator-proof, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. What we build is predator-aware: welded mesh, real latches, no easy gaps. Latch every door at dusk and check your hardware each spring, and you have done the important part.

How fast will it get here?

How long does assembly really take?
Give yourself half a day with two people and a drill. It ships in two boxes and stands six feet tall, so it is worth taking your time on the frame. Every panel is pre-drilled and labeled.
How much space do I need?
The Ranch takes a footprint of 107 in by 72.4 in and stands a full 72 in tall. That is roughly 9 ft by 6 ft of ground, and you need swing room for the walk-in door on the end. Some towns have setback rules for structures this size, so it is worth a quick check with your municipality. Measure your spot before ordering. It is the one thing we cannot fix after the fact.
What should I put underneath it?
Pea gravel or coarse sand drain fastest and stay mud-free, which is what most owners settle on. Deep litter with wood chips works well too. Bare grass is fine if you plan to move the coop. Whatever you choose, add a dry corner or a shallow box of sand for dust bathing.
Is the wood safe for chickens?
Yes. Solid fir timber, stained and sealed for weather, with welded mesh and a weatherproof roof. Keep the stain maintained every year or two and it will hold up a long time.
